This year, APVA has been the epitome of innovation and excellence in the African audio-creative industry. We’ve made significant strides with 35 events that brought together a dynamic community of podcasters, voice artists, and spoken-word creatives.
The African Podcast and Voice Awards, our standout achievement, drew an inspiring 2,300 nominations from across the globe, showcasing nominees from diverse African nations and beyond. We didn’t just celebrate our own; we experienced cross-country collaborations through watch parties in five countries, painting a picture of an interconnected Africa united through voice and sound.
Our Utukufu initiative, commemorating Africa Day, saw a staggering 111 poetry entries from 11 countries, illustrating the richness of African poetry. The event celebrated the diverse talent and provided a springboard for greater visibility, with selected works replayed across our platforms.
This year also saw us working with 17 community partners and supporters, creating 50 articles and publications, and reaching 12,500 subscribers. Our digital footprint expanded with 429,000 impressions on our main website, and our YouTube and podcast channels flourished with over 45,500 views and 59,998 listens, respectively!
As we look back on a year filled with achievements, it’s clear that our collective efforts have amplified African voices and created a sustainable platform for them to thrive globally.
